Switchgear Export Packaging and Delivery Terms

Compare switchgear export packing, named ports and places, combined-shipment freight, documents, insurance and quotation exclusions.

Prepared by: JCON ELECUpdated:

Short answer

State the delivery rule, version and exact named port or place, then list equipment, packing, freight, insurance and exclusions separately. A price delivered to a Chinese port does not by itself include freight to an overseas destination. Combined orders need one agreed shipping scope and confirmed packed dimensions, weights and readiness dates.

Confirm a delivery basis before comparing the total

Use an itemized commercial schedule linked to the approved equipment list. If a preliminary price includes only delivery within China, show the overseas shipping allowance as unquoted or separately estimated rather than calling the offer a destination-delivered price.

  • Write the actual port, terminal or site, not only 'China port' or a destination country.
  • Identify the parties arranging carriage, insurance, export documents, import formalities and unloading under the agreed basis.
  • Record a freight validity date and assumptions; the production lead time is not the transport transit time.
  • Confirm the final shipping arrangement with the forwarder and the contract parties before booking.

Transport routeOrigin, named destination, available access, transshipment or inland transport and container/oversize constraints for forwarder review.
Document scheduleAgree invoice, packing list, transport documents, origin documents if required, approved drawings, manuals, applicable test records and language/copy requirements.

Review the quotation and dispatch documents

Scope reconciliationMatch the packing list to every equipment line, accessory and loose component; confirm what is shipped separately.
Freight and extra chargesIdentify origin/destination handling, storage, demurrage, onward carriage, unloading and import costs as applicable to the agreed contract; do not leave responsibility implicit.
Inspection and releaseAgree drawing approval, FAT/document release, photographs, packing acceptance and dispatch authorization. A factory image alone is not a transport qualification.
Combined-shipment planningCheck whether late equipment delays the whole shipment. Approve any split shipment and revised costs before dispatch.
Offer revisionsUpdate assumptions, price validity, named destination and exclusions when changing from a budget domestic-port offer to a firm export offer.

Frequently asked questions

Does delivery to a Chinese port include overseas freight? Not by itself. Ask for the exact handover point, delivery rule and included charges. International freight, insurance and destination charges must follow the agreed quotation rather than an assumption.
How should two orders shipped together be quoted?List both equipment scopes and a clearly identified combined packing/freight amount, using the complete package count, packed dimensions, weights, route and readiness dates. Confirm how any split shipment changes the price.
Can freight be fixed before final packing details are available?A provisional estimate can state its assumptions and validity. Confirm package sizes, weights, loading method and forwarder conditions before treating freight as firm.

This JCON ELEC checklist supports procurement discussion and is not legal, customs or transport-engineering advice. ICC references explain trade-rule concepts, not a JCON shipping commitment. Use the agreed contract, applicable official rule text and forwarder/customs review to settle responsibilities. No freight rate, packing certification or destination approval is implied.
