Buyer guide

Switchgear export packaging, documents and delivery terms.

For overseas switchgear procurement, the commercial price should be checked together with packaging method, delivery term, document scope and destination requirements. This page summarizes the practical items buyers should confirm before ordering.

Switchgear workshop and order preparation

Packaging items to define

Medium and low voltage switchgear is heavy, high-value electrical equipment. Export packaging should protect cabinet appearance, internal components, busbar connections and accessories during land and sea transport.

  • Cabinet dimensions, gross weight and package quantity.
  • Wooden case, pallet, moisture protection and external marking requirements.
  • Accessory packing list for keys, handles, spare parts, drawings and manuals.
  • Loading method, container plan and destination unloading conditions.
Delivery terms

FOB, CIF and DAP mean different responsibilities

Agreeing the Incoterms rule early prevents quotation misunderstanding and delivery delays.

FOB China portCommon when the buyer controls sea freight. The supplier usually handles delivery to the named China port and export customs procedures.
CIF destination portUseful when the supplier arranges sea freight and insurance to the named destination port, while import clearance remains the buyer's responsibility.
DAP project siteUseful for turnkey logistics discussions, but local import duty, taxes, access conditions and unloading responsibilities must be confirmed carefully.
Quotation noteThe exact port, destination address, package dimensions, transport mode and document requirements should be listed in the RFQ.
